Last night was a special LiveChat. Or should I say, different (they are ALL special!). We had not one, or two, but eight presenters. It was Grad night and featured some of our returned INSPIRE Grads, Abdiel, Alex, Bridget, Caitlin, Connor, Gladys, Jacky, and Morgan. This year, for the first time, we asked back some of our OLC members who had matriculated and headed to college or university. These 'fifth-year' students we have referred to as INSPIRE Grads. They have been asked to assist in peer mentoring and helping staff with our teams. We asked that they contribute also in the form of a blog (you may have read some of them already) or participate in a LiveChat. Yesterday's LiveChat enabled them to fulfill that obligation.
How many of you are going to college? Of course you are! You are high-achieving INSPIRE students! But, how many know where you are going, how you will get there, and what you will major in? The LiveChat helped provide answers by giving personal experiences of what to expect. Each one gave a synopsis of their currently brief experiences. There was even a good discussion on the pros and cons of commuting to school. While we ended the chat with many students still anxious to ask questions, we reminded all that the Grads are happy to answer all OLC members on the Discussion Board. We encourage all to take advantage of our Grads and their experience!
Next week, our presenter is Dr. Phil Metzger from Kennedy Space Center. Dr. Phil is part of our research team developing strategies for lunar bases/outposts. This chat is a MUST if you have signed up and plan to attend next weeks VSE on Lunar Bases (or watch the archive before the VSE). Plan to attend for a great night on the moon!
