Today the crew continued our experiments and went on our second EVA. Graham and Jackie had to do some quick thinking when the batteries of one of our ATVs (all-terrain vehicles) died during the EVA. Luckily, our radio repeater was attached to two car batteries that we used to get the ATV started up again. Jenny started an experiment today to grow our own alfafa sprouts. The crew is looking forward to some delicious home-grown food! Alfafa sprouts will be an important food to grow when humans colonize Mars because they grow so quickly, they are very nutritious, and they don't take up very much space.

Answer: Only 5 days!

Crew 115 says hello to the INSPIRE community! We are now in our third day of simulation. Currently, we have two INSPIRE experiments running at the hab. We would like to include INSPIRE in our wind study. We will be conducting an experiment testing the wind speeds at various location around the hab to determine optimal wind turbine placement. We would like the INSPIRE community's help.
Attached are some pictures Kyle (our crew engineer) took using a remote controlled plane and helicopter of the area surrounding the hab. We would like to challenge the INSPIRE students today and tomorrow to mark "x" at various location where they think we should test the wind speed. We will be testing at 4 different locations. We would like to set up the wind anemometers during Friday's EVA so if we could have your feedback atThursday night's LiveChat that would be great. Video footage will be on its way later tonight but you can get started looking at the images now.
