Sorry for the tardiness in posting this update, but we have had a lot going on behind the scenes at INSPIRE and will have an announcement for you soon that you will not want to miss! On to the update!
Our Thursday night LiveChat brought 34 students of the OLC to listen to Dr. Aaron Weaver from the Glenn Research Center in Ohio discuss the difficulties of keeping astronauts healthy in space. It offered an excellent counterpart to the previous chat by Dr. Liz Warren of JSC. Our students heard of the dangers of the space environment and how we protect our astronauts. Two big topics that rose to the top were radiation shielding and bone/muscle loss. OLC students asked several questions during the Q&A which followed.
Before and after the chat, students were invited to help the Georgia Tech Crew 115 select a site for their energy generating wind turbine. To chose the best site, four locations would have an anemometer placed, with the highest reading leading to the selection of the turbine site. Our students were shown images obtained from the Crew 115 remote controlled helicopter and airplane and asked to place an icon on their selected sites. Snapshots were taken of these selections and forwarded on to the crew. Where did they chose to place their windmill? Find out this Thursday at 8:00pm CT by signing up now on the Discussion Board!
