Welcome from Mars!

By Lisa Thornsberry, Georgia Tech MDRS Team

I'm currently at the Mars Desert Research Station with Crew 115 (the Georgia Tech crew). We have just arrived and are anxious to be on our mission! We have several experiments to perform, including some suggested by INSPIRE students. We will also be talking to you live during the LiveCgat on March 22. Make sure to sign up on your OLC Discussion Board!

I've written a quick update for today. I've also included a question for the INSPIRE participants to think about. Please let me know if you like it!

Today was our first day of simulation! We spent most of the day preparing our science and engineering experiments that we will be performing for the next two weeks. Matthew and Graham built two wind anemometers, which are instruments that measure the speed of the wind. In the next few days, we will be placing the anemometers around the hab with the help of the INSPIRE community!

Question of the day: How much water did the 6-person crew use today?
Answer: 30.5 gallons! This is just over 5 gallons per person.
