Update from Mars Desert Research Station!

By Lisa Thornsberry, Georgia Tech MDRS Team

Here is today's update from MDRS Crew 115!  Thanks for sharing with the INSPIRE community!
Today was our simulated EVA (extravehicular activity), which means that Matthew, Kyle, and Lisa got to try out the spacesuits for the first time! Our primary goal during the EVA was to test out our radio repeater, which increases the distance that our radios can send and receive messages. We traveled 3 kilometers (almost 2 miles) from the hab and still sent radio messages only using the lowest power setting!

Question: How long did it take 3 crew members to put on their spacesuits today?
Answer: 30 minutes!
